Superintendent
Tricia Mooney serves as the Superintendent of Hermiston School District, where she is responsible for the overall leadership and administration of the district. In her role, she leads the implementation of the district’s strategic vision, mission, and goals, ensuring that every decision aligns with the district’s commitment to student and organizational success.
As the Board's direct link to district operations, Superintendent Mooney carries the authority and responsibility for executing Board policies and advancing district-wide goals.
Jake Bacon
Assistant Superintendent
Jake Bacon serves as the Human Resources Superintendent, guiding the strategic direction and overseeing the daily operations of the district’s human resources department. His leadership ensures a supportive, fair, and compliant work environment that promotes staff well-being and organizational success.
In his role, Jake manages key HR functions, including policy development, recruitment and retention, employee relations, payroll, and benefits administration. He also ensures compliance with labor laws and district policies. Working closely with department leaders, he aligns HR initiatives with organizational goals, fostering a positive workplace culture through staff development, performance management, and employee engagement.
Katie Saul
Director of Business Services
Katie Saul brings strategic vision and exceptional stewardship to her role in business operations, where she ensures fiscal responsibility, accountability, and efficient resource management across the district. Her expertise spans key areas, including business and finance, payroll and benefits, capital projects, nutrition services, and facilities and maintenance, each managed with a commitment to integrity and sustainability.
With a focus on optimizing resources and promoting long-term sustainability, Katie plays a critical role in maintaining the district’s financial health and operational effectiveness, contributing to a stable and well-supported learning environment for students and staff.
Larry Usher
Director of Athletics and Activities
As the Director of Athletics, Activities, and Transportation, Larry Usher oversees the district's athletic programs, extracurricular activities, and transportation services. He manages program policies, budgets, and event scheduling to ensure compliance with district and state regulations while promoting a safe and supportive environment.
Larry works closely with coaches, advisors, and school administrators to foster student engagement, wellness, and school spirit. His leadership is dedicated to creating positive and inclusive programs that enhance student life and build a strong sense of community across the district.
Dr. Jerad Farley
Director of Elementary Education
Dr. Jerad Farley leads Elementary Education with a focus on building a strong foundation for student learning and growth. Collaborating with district and school administrators, he works to create engaging, developmentally appropriate learning environments that support young learners’ academic and personal development.
His responsibilities include overseeing curriculum implementation, instructional practices, assessment, early learning initiatives, and professional development for elementary educators. Dr. Farley’s leadership aims to foster academic excellence and provide students with a robust start to their educational journey.
Scott Depew
Director of Secondary Education
Scott Depew leads the vision and strategic direction for Secondary Education, collaborating with district and school administrators to ensure high-quality learning experiences and supportive environments for students. His role encompasses a range of departments within Teaching and Learning, including curriculum and assessment, learning programs and supports, instructional technology, professional development, and career and technical education. Each area is focused on enhancing educational outcomes and fostering student success.
Through his leadership, Scott promotes innovative educational practices and resources, empowering both educators and students to achieve excellence in secondary education.
Neely McKay
Director of Special Programs
As the Special Services Director for the district, Neely McKay spearheads the development and implementation of programs that support students with disabilities, ensuring equitable access to education and essential accommodations. Neely leads special education services, manages individualized education plans (IEPs), 504 plans, and ensures strict compliance with state and federal regulations, including IDEA and Section 504.
Neely collaborates with educators, families, and external agencies to provide vital resources, conduct staff training on best practices, and advocate for inclusive learning environments. Her commitment supports the academic and personal growth of every student, fostering a district culture that values and empowers all learners.
Dan Greenough
Director of Student Services
As the Director of Student Services, Daniel Greenough drives initiatives to meet students' diverse needs and ensure equitable access to essential resources that support their academic and personal success. His role includes overseeing special education, counseling, mental health services, and intervention programs, all designed to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Daniel collaborates closely with district and school staff to develop strategies and accommodations that promote inclusivity and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. In addition, he partners with families and community organizations and provides professional development for staff, working to create a responsive environment where every student can thrive.
Jeff Kelso
Technology Director
Jeff Kelso provides strategic vision and leadership in information technology, ensuring the safety, functionality, and reliability of the district's network infrastructure, data systems, and technology applications. Working alongside a skilled IT team, Jeff oversees dedicated technology support for both students and staff, ensuring seamless access and assistance through the district’s Help Desk.
