- Step One: Parent / Guardian Requests an Evaluation
Submit a written request for evaluation. Student is added to the IPST meeting agenda, and action is taken within 20 calendar days.
- Step Two: School Decision on Evaluation
The school team reviews the request and meets with the parent. Procedural Safeguards and Prior Written Notice (PWN) are provided.
Steps 3-5 are the same process as a staff referral to evaluate
- Step Three: Evaluation Planning
An evaluation planning meeting is held with the parent. Consent to evaluate is discussed and signed by the parent or guardian.
- Step Four: Evaluation & Eligibility
Comprehensive evaluation completed in 60 school days. Eligibility meeting held; PWN sent, and IEP meeting scheduled within 30 days.
- Step Five: IED Plan Development
The school team and parent collaborate to develop the Initial IEP. Parent signs consent for the initial placement to begin services.
