The Hermiston School District Board of Education took action at its September business meeting for the district to enter into contract with Nelson Construction Corp and begin construction on the Hermiston High School Softball Facility Project.

Last Thursday, the district hosted a public bid opening for Invitation to Bid (ITB) 001-2020 HHS Softball Facility Project in the district office boardroom. The project includes all site work associated with two (2) new softball fields, new parking area, underground utility work, new pathways, a combined precast concession and restroom building, four (4) dugouts, and a precast storage building. HSD estimated the construction cost range to be $2,000,000 to $2,500,000.

Five bids were submitted, ranging from $2,404,511 to $2,980,000. Nelson Construction Corp of Walla Walla, Wash., was identified as the low bidder and was recommended to the board for approval.

“Thank you to those that took the time to bid on the project,” said Superintendent Mooney. “We appreciate your interest in the district and our bond projects. The district is pleased to have the first of its 2019 bond projects moving into the construction phase.”

A groundbreaking ceremony is tentatively set for Tuesday, September 29, with the time yet to be determined.

Remaining bond projects include replacement of Rocky Heights Elementary School and construction of a Loma Vista Elementary School, for which, bidding will begin in early in 2021.

La junta directiva toma medidas con el proyecto inicial del bono

La Junta Directiva del Distrito Escolar de Hermiston tomó medidas  en su reunión de negocios de septiembre para que el distrito entrará en contrato con Nelson Construction Corp y comience la construcción del Proyecto de Intalaciones de Sóftbol de la Preparatoria de Hermiston.

El jueves pasado, el distrito organizó una licitación pública para convocar la Licitación (ITB)  001-2020 del Proyecto de Intalaciones de Sóftbol de HHS, en la sala de juntas de la oficina del distrito. El proyecto incluye todo el trabajo del sitio asociado con dos (2) nuevos campos de sóftbol, nueva área de estacionamiento, trabajo de servicios públicos subterráneos, nuevos caminos, una concesión combinada prefabricada y construcción de baños, cuatro (4) banquillos y un edificio de almacenamiento prefabricado. HSD estimó que el costo de construcción es entre $2,000,000 a $2,500,000.

Se presentaron cinco ofertas, que estuvieron entre $2,404,511 y $2,980,000. Nelson Construction Corp de Walla Walla, Wash., fue  identificado como el postor bajo y fue recomendado a la junta para su aprobación.

"Gracias a aquellos que se tomaron el tiempo para entregar una licitacion para el proyecto," dijo la Superintendente Mooney. "Agradecemos su interés en el distrito y nuestros proyectos del bono. El distrito se complace en tener el primero de sus proyectos de bonos del 2019 entrando a la fase de construcción."

Una ceremonia de inauguración está fijada tentativamente para el martes, 29 de septiembre, la hora no se ha determinado.

Los proyectos de bonos restantes incluyen el reemplazo de la Escuela Primaria Rocky Heights y la construcción de la Escuela Primaria Loma Vista, para la cual, las licitaciones comenzarán a principios del 2021.
