“I am excited to be a part of a growing community that has the opportunity to strengthen our education system by providing the best learning environment possible.  Improving the infrastructure of our schools strengthens our kids, our future and our town.”

Castaneda, Webster
“It’s important to always be vigilant of the needs of the district. Being vigilant provides us the opportunity to know how to better serve our students before the needs arises. The Planning for Growth Committee provides that vigilance.”

Driskel, Darce
“A community is known by the schools it keeps.  Be it the quality of instruction, or a safe and healthy physical environment, it is a professional responsibility, and more importantly, a moral obligation to seek the most functional and affordable facilities for quality learning to occur.”

Drotzmann, David Dr.
“As a school board member in a growing district, I feel it is important to participate on a committee that adequately researches and develops plans for the future facilities of this community so our kids can have healthy and safe facilities to learn in.”

Eldrige, Kathy
“A high quality public school system is the lifeblood of a healthy, growing community and Hermiston is no exception. I serve as a member of this school district committee because I strongly believe that the active involvement of parents, business leaders, and other community members in the planning and development of sensible educational strategies, is the key to building the kind of public school system that can offer a quality education for our young people in physical settings that are safe and secure.”

Galan, Sam (Roberto)
“I’m just an involved parent…. To be part of this Committee, gives me the opportunity to serve our community, by investing time and resources to the future of our kids.”

Hamm, Phil
“Good public schools are the heart of any community.  Hermiston is no exception.  We as a community need to do whatever is needed to ensure that all children of the District have a wonderful opportunity to be successful, beginning by providing each with a great education. Ultimately this is the goal of the Long Range Facility Planning Committee and that is why I count it a privilege to be a member.”

Johnson, DayLee

Juul, Val
“As a mother of children attending Hermiston School District, I am committed to having our schools provide the best possible education.  For this to be accomplished, we need to continually assess the present facilities in which we send our children to everyday.  As well as, plan for the future of our school district and its needs.  I am excited and eager to be a part of the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee as we deal with aging school buildings and capacity issues.”

Mabbott, Tamra

Medelez, Benny

Mulvihill, Mark
“The Hermiston School District reflects the progressive nature of our community. As the district continues to experience growth in enrollment, it is imperative we develop a flexible strategic plan for new and old facilities.”

Piersol, Delores
“I am on this committee for 2 reasons; 1st as a District Employee/Safety Coordinator, I am concerned about the safety of our schools for our present and future students. 2nd as a Grandparent I want the best environment for all future students.”

Romeike, Brian

Severson, Bob
“Our children are the future leaders of our country.  I feel it is very important that we provide adequate educational facilities for them.”

Simon, Deanne

Smith, Becki
“Now that my kids are out of our home, I feel I have more time to get involved in community affairs.  I feel the Long Range Facility Planning Committee is where I should be since I am so interested in children’s’ safety at school and also public education in general.  We moved to Hermiston 6 years ago, and I believe the quality of education is superior here.  I feel we should have schools to match our teaching abilities that would draw and keep the quality of educators that already exists in Hermiston.”

Spoo, Tom
“As a school district employee and parent of two children that are currently in our school system, I am more than interested in serving on the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee to help ensure that the needs of all our children are met now and into the future.”

Starkey, Phil

Ternes, Shannon
“With children currently in Elementary, Middle, and High School and also a district employee I feel it is important to help in planning the future of our districts growth by serving on this committee.”

Thompson, Jim

Worstell, Shawn
“As a parent of five children that have attended or are attending the Hermiston School District, I am very interested in the learning environment of our schools.  This environment is enhanced by the facilities provided.  I want the best possible education for all of the district students, not just my own.  In addition, I am the principal of Sunset Elementary School, a 50 year old elementary school. The quality of a school is more than the physical appearance of the building, as is evidenced at Sunset.  We have an old building with so much personality. I am interested in preserving this character while making it, and all of our buildings, safe and functional.  I am excited about being part of a committee that is dedicated to providing the best education to all of our students!”
