Historical Capital Programs

Community support has always been a source of strength within Hermiston.

In 2001, voters approved a $39 million building program which included the construction of a new high school; Desert View Elementary School; and renovations at Highland Hills Elementary School.

Voters also approved a $69.9 million bond in 2008. The bond served to replace Armand Larive Middle School (built in 1936); West Park Elementary School (built in 1950); and Sunset Elementary School (built in 1957). For more information about the 2008 bond, click here.

In 2017, the District put forth a bond valued at $104.4 million, and while the bond failed to gain the necessary votes, the community continues to acknowledge the quality of our public schools. This bond was projected to replace Highland Hills and Rocky Heights Elementary Schools (built in 1980 and 1962, respectively), renovate Sandstone Middle School (built in 1995), and expand Hermiston High School.
